Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev held a regular meeting to monitor the situation with socially significant agricultural products and food. Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov took part in this work.
Participants discussed food security and the smooth running of spring field work. To date, sowing takes place in 40 constituent entities of the Russian Federation: 6.2 million hectares are sown, 13.5 million hectares are fertilized. However, several regions this year have a problem of lack of moisture, in particular the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Rostov Region.
Sown areas in the Republic of Tatarstan this year will amount to 2.8 million hectares, which is the same as last year. 1.7 million hectares are spring crops, sowing of which was carried out by 3.3%. Provision with seeds is 109% (375 thousand tons). Since autumn, winter crops were sown on an area of 494 thousand ha. To date, their condition is assessed as good. Mineral fertilizers accumulated at a rate of 52.3 kg/ha (in 2019 - 44.4 kg a.i. / ha plus 8.0 kg over the previous year). At least 70 kg a.i. / ha are planned for the crop.
According to the Minister, it is especially important for the regions to timely provide state support to farmers in a timely manner, as well as pay attention to staffing and think over a plan for organizing the work process in advance.
In addition, the meeting participants talked on topics such as the interaction of agricultural enterprises with healthcare institutions and Rospotrebnadzor in the context of the coronavirus epidemic.
During the event, the Minister expressed gratitude to agricultural producers, who along with many services, provide the vital activity of the state. “Thanks to them, the Russian agro-industrial complex even in this difficult time demonstrates its strength and stability. Shop shelves filled with high-quality domestic products give people confidence in today,” said Dmitry Patrushev.
