The Kazan Halal Market International Fair Opens in Tatarstan
Rustam Minnikhanov, Chairman of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, and Marat Zyabbarov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, participated in the opening of the Kazan Halal Market International Fair. This is the first official event of the 17th International Economic Forum "Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum." The halal fair is being held at the Kazan Agro-Industrial Park.
Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that today, halal is an entire philosophy of life, reflecting deep spiritual and cultural values, uniting millions of people around the world. "Tatarstan, as a leading Russian region in the development of the Islamic economy, attaches particular importance to supporting and promoting the halal industry. We are actively working in this direction and strengthening our regulatory framework. "Last year, the first representative center of the AAOIFI, a key international organization for developing Islamic finance standards, opened in Kazan," said the Rais of the Republic.
Today, Tatarstan has over 150 halal food producers. Rustam Minnikhanov noted that exports are also growing: last year, the republic's halal product exports reached $45 million, three times the 2024 figure. This positive trend has continued this year. "I am confident this will open up new opportunities for promoting Tatarstan's halal products in Eastern markets and deepen our partnerships," emphasized the Rais of Tatarstan.
Halal fairs are a good tradition in the republic, allowing participants to establish new trade relations. This year, approximately 100 companies from 11 regions of Russia and nine foreign countries are participating in the event. "Today, a wide selection of diverse products from Russian regions, as well as from foreign countries, is presented here." "This is clear evidence of the international interest in the halal market of Tatarstan and Russia as a whole," noted Rustam Minnikhanov.
He thanked Russian and international partners for their contribution to the development of the halal sector and their well-coordinated collaboration in this area.
Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maxim Markovich noted that Russia actively cooperates with Islamic countries in various areas of the agricultural sector, including halal. "The Kazan Halal Market is an effective platform for establishing business connections, concluding contracts, and showcasing our products. We, in turn, will help producers enter foreign markets," he said.
Latifa El Bouabdelaoui, Director General of the Islamic Center for the Development of Commerce (Morocco), and Youssef Hassan Halawi, Secretary General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (Saudi Arabia), also addressed the halal fair's participants and guests with greetings.
The guests then toured the trade pavilions and learned about the range of products on display.
Kazan Halal Market will be open from May 13th to 17th, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. At the largest halal marketplace in Russia, you can purchase food, clothing, accessories, cosmetics, and other certified products from leading manufacturers in the Islamic world. All products and services presented at the fair are halal certified by various certification organizations and have been additionally verified by the Halal Standards Committee of the Muslim Spiritual Directorate of the Republic of Tatarstan.
