The first batches of barley from Tatarstan were successfully shipped to Iran.
Two batches of feed barley were shipped from the Rybno-Slobodsky and Alekseyevsky districts of the Republic of Tatarstan, under the supervision of the regional branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "TsOK APK" for export to Iran. The total weight exceeded 10,000 tons.
The shipment was carried out with the decontamination of the empty holds of the ships in accordance with the requirements of the destination country. Specialists from the TsOK APK then carried out the grain decontamination procedure.
Samples were taken from each batch of grain for laboratory testing to ensure product compliance with the terms of the contract, the technical regulations of the Customs Union TR CU 015/2011 "On Grain Safety," GOST R 53900-2010 "Feed Barley. Technical Conditions," and the requirements of the importing country.
Based on the testing results, the grain's compliance with all stated requirements for direct export to Iran was confirmed. The Tatarstan Office of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) issued a phytosanitary certificate.
"Dry cargo ships carrying grain—feed barley—were sent along the Volga to the destination country based on all the necessary permits issued by the branch: quarantine and phytosanitary certificates for the quarantined products, laboratory test reports, international certificates (radiology, GMO-free certificates, and health certificates," said Polina Azarenko, head of the inspection body at the Tatarstan branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "TsOK AIC."
Since the beginning of this year, these are the first shipments of grain products from Tatarstan to Iran. As of May 5, 2026, a total of 68,000 tons of grain and its processed products have already been shipped to foreign markets under the supervision of the Tatarstan branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "TsOK AIC." Exports were carried out by water, rail, and road transport to 10 countries: Iran, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Serbia, Poland, and the Czech Republic. Specialists from the Russian Export Center confirmed the quality of wheat, barley, mustard, flax, soybeans, buckwheat, peas, sainfoin, camelina, vetch, millet, sunflower meal, and other products.
