All municipal districts in Tatarstan have begun spring crop sowing.
Spring field work began today in all municipal districts of the Republic of Tatarstan. Spring crop sowing has been completed on an area of over 150,000 hectares, of which 84,500 hectares are grain crops, 32,800 hectares are sunflowers, and 22,000 hectares are rapeseed. In total, spring sowing is planned for 1,711,000 hectares in the republic, including 775,000 hectares of grain crops and 719,000 hectares of industrial crops.
Winter crop fertilization has been completed on an area of over 450,000 hectares, representing 94% of the planned total. Perennial grasses have been fertilized on an area of 170,000 hectares, or 55% of the planned total. Harrowing has been completed on 1,287,000 hectares, representing 54% of the planned area.
As noted by Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut, late sowing offers the potential for a larger harvest. She stated that the sowing campaign in Russia is currently developing according to the 2022 scenario, when the country achieved a record grain harvest of 157 million tons. As a reminder, the Republic of Tatarstan harvested 5,213,000 tons of grain in 2022, with a yield of 35 centners per hectare.
