From July 15 to October 1, 2025, the Tatarstan branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "TsOK AIC" received 190 samples of new food and feed barley, totaling over 56,400 tons, for testing. The number of tests of this type of grain at the branch increased by 70%, reaching 5,500 compared to 3,200 last year.

Laboratory specialists conducted the tests in accordance with GOST 28672-2019 "Barley. Specifications," GOST R 53900-2010 "Feed Barley. Specifications," and the Customs Union Technical Regulation TR CU 015/2011 "On Grain Safety." The analysis included checking for color, odor, moisture, the fractional composition of weed and grain impurities, protein, pest infestation, and other factors.

During testing, 10 samples were found to contain levels of the pesticide "Lambda-cyhalothrin" that were 3-12.5 times higher than the permissible limit (0.01 mg/kg). Five samples showed elevated moisture content, and one sample failed the "Grain Impurity" test.

Since the beginning of 2025 and as of early October, specialists at the branch of the Center for Quality Assurance of the Agro-Industrial Complex have analyzed over 200,000 tons of grown barley, analyzing 303 samples and conducting 9,400 tests.

Barley remains the most important agricultural crop in Tatarstan. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, the gross barley harvest in 2025 reached approximately 1.1 million tons with a yield of 37.4 c/ha, which is 30% higher than last year’s yield (28.6 c/ha).
