Mikhail Mishustin: "Agriculture is showing steady positive momentum"

25 February 2026, Wednesday

Today, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin delivered his annual government report to the State Duma on the results of his work, including on issues raised by the State Duma.

"In accordance with the Constitution, the Government annually submits a report to the State Duma on the results of its work. Today, I will talk in detail about what we have accomplished and what we have achieved in 2025. And, of course, about our priorities for the near future," said Mikhail Mishustin.

According to Mikhail Mishustin, agriculture is showing steady positive momentum. "Last year, its output increased by almost 5%. And the grain harvest is among the top five in the last two decades. There are records for oilseeds, including soybeans and rapeseed, for legumes, and for raw milk production," the Prime Minister reported.

Mikhail Mishustin emphasized: "To ensure that producers have their own seed and breeding material, we are paying special attention to agricultural science. We are already almost 70% supplied with domestic seeds for basic crops; last year, 47 new Russian-bred plant varieties and hybrids were added to the state registry."

"And, of course, we need to strengthen the technological independence of our agro-industrial complex through our own developments and equipment. We have modern approaches in the food industry, machinery production, and veterinary drug production," he added.

The Prime Minister noted that we are also implementing a flexible strategy for supporting small and medium-sized farms, tailored to the needs of farmers. We provide grants for aspiring entrepreneurs, consumer cooperatives, and family farms. We have helped veterans of the special military operation launch over 60 projects in the agro-industrial complex.

"All these steps allow us to address the key challenges of food security for the country and saturate the domestic market with high-quality food products," said Mikhail Mishustin.
