Today, the grand opening of the II National Dairy Congress took place in Kazan. The program of the event includes a plenary part with the participation of the heads of the Russian agro-industrial complex, legislative and executive authorities, a round table, thematic sections on current areas of the modern dairy market with reports from leading speakers and authoritative specialists. Guests will also be able to see an exhibition of achievements of the dairy industry.
The event was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Lenar Garipov, Chairman of the Council - Director of the Dairy Union of Russia Lyudmila Manitskaya, Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation for the Protection of Competition Anton Getta, Head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Sergei Dankert, creator of the Mercury system and representative of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Nikolai Vlasov, head of the Representative Office of JSC Russian Export Center Artem Krasnov and other officials.
According to the results of 2024, the Republic of Tatarstan ranks first in the Russian Federation in milk production, having 6.7% of the total volume.
"We fully provide ourselves with livestock products. Per capita, we produce above the consumption standard, by 61% in milk," said Lenar Garipov.
According to Garipov, today dairy farming is the most interesting area in agriculture. At the same time, seasonal fluctuations in purchase prices for raw milk and an increase in production costs threaten the implementation of investment projects. But we must develop not only production, but also milk processing. Without developing processing, its capacity, and the range of products, we can again return to overproduction and a decrease in purchase prices for raw milk.
“Today, the development vector of most dairy enterprises is aimed at modernization, increasing the volume of manufactured products and improving production efficiency. The task that milk processors face today is to increase the volume of processed raw materials to 90% by 2030, taking into account the growth in raw milk production, which is already more than 6,000 tons per day,” said Lenar Garipov.
The development of dairy production, the modernization of the agro-industrial complex of Russia, including Tatarstan, contributes to the goals and objectives of the national project “Technological Support for Food Security”.
During the plenary session, the congress participants discussed issues of antitrust regulation and measures to ensure fair competition in the dairy market, common tasks and areas of implementation of state control in the agro-industrial complex, and mechanisms for supporting and activating Russian dairy exports.
Lyudmila Manitskaya spoke in more detail about the dairy industry and modern problems of sustainable development. One third of the total milk volume is produced by private household farms. In terms of milk production by region, the Volga Federal District, which includes Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, and Udmurtia, ranks first. In peasant farms, the livestock has increased over the past 25 years. However, the number of farmers has decreased by 30% over 5 years.
