Last week, a delegation from the Republic of Tatarstan visited the Republic of Karelia on a working visit. The delegation was led by Gelyus Bayazitov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Republic of Karelia was represented by Andrei Sergeev, First Deputy Head and Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Karelia. The delegation also included Olga Palkina, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Republic of Karelia, and fish farming leaders and researchers.

During the visit, Gelyus Bayazitov met with Andrei Sergeev, First Deputy Head and Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Karelia, and Olga Palkina, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Republic of Karelia. At a meeting on current issues of aquaculture breeding, the parties discussed the results of work for 2025 and the development of partnerships with fisheries enterprises in the Republic of Karelia. Particular attention was paid to further cooperation in breeding and genetic work in aquaculture in Tatarstan.

"We are exploring the possibility of long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation with trout farmers for the joint cultivation of commercial trout in the Republic of Karelia and subsequent sale in the Republic of Tatarstan," noted the Deputy Minister.

Gelus Bayazitov spoke about the potential of Tatarstan's agro-industrial complex. He also emphasized that the Republic of Tatarstan occupies a leading position in agricultural production in the Russian Federation and fully satisfies the needs of the population for basic foodstuffs.

Karelian Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Olga Palkina presented the results of the region's aquaculture enterprises for 2025. The republic's fisheries sector remains stable: the volume of fish caught and farmed amounted to 107,300 tons, and the value of product shipments reached 25 billion rubles.

The delegates then visited the production facilities of Fedorenko N.V. LLC, a company engaged in fish farming and processing, caviar, and fish oil processing.

They then toured the fish processing plants of Barents Group LLC and Rybotrogovaya Set LLC. In Kondopoga (Berezovka village, Kondopozhsky District), they were shown a fish oil production facility and the general fish processing facility.

During his working visit, Gelyus Bayazitov also visited the fish feed production plant of Aqua Feed LLC (Fedorenko N.V. Group). This modern feed mill is capable of producing over 50,000 tons of product per year. The project was implemented by Nikolai Fedorenko, the owner of a trout farming business in Karelia. Production is 80% automated and supports the introduction of liquid micronutrients, such as enzymes and probiotics, at low temperatures. Double-mixing technology allows for the creation of various recipes for different fish species.

The delegation then learned about the operations of Karelskaya Trout, a company specializing in the breeding and sale of rainbow trout and its caviar.

Karelskaya Trout is a full-cycle aquafarm located in the ecologically clean coastal zone of Lake Ladoga. The company holds a water use permit allowing it to breed fish within the Ladoga Skerries State Nature Reserve.

Following the business trip, the participants visited the production facilities of the Fareliya Group of Companies (Parola brand). This partnership allows for the production of up to 3,000 tons of chilled trout per year. In processed form (salted, smoked trout, caviar, etc.), the volume of finished products reaches approximately 900 tons per year, with salted caviar packaged in batches of up to 100 tons.

The mutually beneficial relationship between the Republic of Tatarstan and Karelia strengthens the partnership and aligns with the goals of the national project "International Cooperation and Export."
