Marat Zyabbarov solemnly opened the international tournament of young chefs of Islamic countries named after Yunus Akhmetzyanov

16 May 2024, Thursday

Today, within the framework of KazanForum, with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov, the grand opening of the international tournament of young chefs of Islamic countries named after Yunus Akhmetzyanov took place.

“The goal of the tournament is to show that the new generation of chefs around the world should have not only special knowledge in the field of combining products and cooking techniques, but also, having arrived in another country, establish interactions with industry professionals, work shoulder to shoulder in an unfamiliar kitchen, thereby increasing the prestige of the chef profession,” noted Marat Zyabbarov.

The tournament is a unique competition that has no analogues. Unlike contests and competitions, a talented aspiring chef under the age of 25 can take part in the young chefs’ tournament.

To submit an application, the finalists had to prepare a set of 3 dishes (appetizer, main course, dessert) using local products and fill out a form on the tournament website ycichefs.com.

Each finalist is assigned a master chef as a mentor - an eminent and authoritative chef from the participating country. All chefs underwent serious preliminary training from the organizing committee - an explanation of the tournament rules, answers to all questions that may arise and assistance in popularizing the tournament in their country.

Another feature of the format is that every guest of the KazanForum site will be able to try the national cuisine of the countries of the Islamic Commonwealth. Special boxes and a separate comfortable food area will be organized from 11:00 to 16:00 daily. The uniqueness of the format is that from 8:00 to 11:00 competitions between finalists are held, and from 11:00 to 16:00 restaurants switch to service mode and, together with the finalists, organize hot meals for forum guests.

And on May 18-19, all residents of Kazan and guests of the capital will be able to enjoy Moroccan, Kazakh, Uzbek, Azerbaijani, Russian, Tatar, Malaysian and Kyrgyz cuisines.
