In some fields of Tatarstan, depth of snow cover twice exceeded the norm
Specialists of the Rosselkhozcenter branch in the Republic of Tatarstan randomly examined winter crops for the 2022 harvest. During a week, in order to determine the general condition of the fields, a total of 3.5 thousand hectares were examined, and in total since the beginning of this year - 15.3 thousand hectares.
“Height of the snow cover of winter crops examined by our specialists is from 28 to 70 cm. Moreover, in most regions it exceeds the norm, and for our republic the norm is 20–37 cm,” said the deputy head of the FGBU branch “ Rosselkhoztsentr” in the Republic of Tatarstan Lyubov Zanina.
Thick snow cover creates conditions for maintaining a high temperature regime at the depth of the tillering node of winter crops in the range of -0.2 ... -8 ° C, but at the same time leads to an increased consumption of sugars in plant tissues. At the moment, the sugar content in winter crops is 23.5–31%, which corresponds to the norm.
Also, specialists of the Tatarstan branch of Rosselkhoztsentr are working to determine the contamination of seeds of spring grain crops with diseases. According to the institution, 16.87 thousand tons of seeds were analyzed, a total of 294 samples were tested.
