The Rosselkhoznadzor of Tatarstan told about measures to combat rodents - pests of agricultural crops

"Recently, an increase in the number of mouse-like rodents has been noted in the republic on agricultural crops. The average number of rodents on winter crops is 4.5 residential burrows per hectare of crops, on perennial grasses - 16.4. The maximum number of rodents on winter crops is in the Buinsky district. The maximum number of rodents on perennial grasses was detected in the Aznakaevsky district on crops," explained Lyubov Zanina, Deputy head of the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Rosselkhoznadzor" in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Farmers are recommended to carry out preventive and extermination measures with the help of poisoned baits to combat these pests. If necessary, such measures with the use of baits are repeated after 7-10 days. As for the methods of using baits, these are manual application of special applicators into burrows, mechanized sieving with mounted fertilizer spreaders.

According to the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Rosselkhoznadzor" in Tatarstan, as of September 23, 478 thousand hectares of winter crops were sown in the republic for the harvest of 2022 - this is 90% of the forecast. Winter crops are in the germination phase - 2-4 leaves, tillering.
