A farmer from Buinsk started collecting table beets
For almost 20 years, the Salavatullin’ family from the village of Aksu in the Buinsky district has been engaged in vegetable growing and animal husbandry. Today, the family business is continued by his son Damir. Two years ago, he won a grant from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan for the development of farms under the program "Support for novice farmers". Having made a business plan for 5 years, he planted potatoes, carrots and table beets. The latter is cultivated on an area of 6 hectares.
The lack of rain and abnormal heat affected the germination of beets. "We had to fight for the harvest," the farmer says, " since the end of June, we have been collecting the ripe crop for the third time."
It was possible to save crops this year only thanks to irrigation. To date, about 30 tons of root crops have been harvested, but it is too early to talk about the final result.
The grown crop will be sold to shops and cafes in the city of Kazan. Damir Salavatullin sells table beets for 25 rubles. It will be possible to buy vegetables grown by a Buinsk farmer at traditional agricultural fairs.
