Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov reported on the state of crops and the impact of abnormal heat on the agro-industrial complex today at a meeting in the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan.

President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov held a videoconference meeting with all municipal districts. The meeting was also attended by the Prime Minister of Tatarstan Alexey Pesoshin.

The minister noted that the past week was distinguished by abnormally hot weather. The temperature record has been broken over the past 100 years. Hot windy weather, according to the Hydrometeorological Service, seriously dried up the soil. Moisture in the meter layer is from 120 to 160 mm, and in the arable layer - 19 - 27 mm. “There is much more moisture where our recommendations for deep loosening of the soil in autumn are met. It has been proven once again that the combination of technological operations during sowing effectively affects the preservation of moisture, ”he said.

The sowing campaign in the republic is almost complete: it remains to complete the work on corn, rapeseed and potatoes. Marat Zyabbarov briefly informed about the state of winter crops. There almost are no problems where the production technology is observed. To reduce water consumption and preserve the potential of winter crops, it is important to carry out root and foliar feeding. Many farms are working in this direction, taking into account scientific recommendations.

What about spring crops, hot weather led to the rapid development of pests and weeds. The head of the Ministry of Agriculture called for constant monitoring of fields in order to timely apply the necessary technological methods. Earlier, 1,446 units of sprayers were accepted in the districts. Of these, 88% have passed acceptance today, and a re-acceptance is being completed the other day.

The Minister recalled that when carrying out protective measures, it is necessary to take into account the interests of beekeepers. “Once again I appeal to the heads of farms: the responsibility for the safety of bee colonies is on you, therefore I demand that you strictly observe the regulations for these works”, said Marat Zyabbarov.

The abnormal heat affected not only plants, but also the livestock sector. Cows experience heat stress, which is why the republic receives up to 5 tons of milk less every day. Marat Zyabbarov recommended strengthening control over the uninterrupted water supply to the animals and to ensure an optimal microclimate in barns.

Also, today in the republic a comprehensive assessment of state of the feed base and the quality of harvested feed is being carried out.

“Today and tomorrow there will be rains in the republic, which, I hope, will have a favorable effect on the harvest. All issues related to the care and quality of feed are also very important, ”the President of Tatarstan emphasized.
