Ensuring fire safety at agricultural facilities is under the special control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan hosted a meeting on ensuring fire safety at the facilities of the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Tatarstan during the seasonal field work in 2021. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Rafael Fattakhov, representatives of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia in the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as heads of regional agricultural departments.

In 2020, the main causes of fires at the enterprises of the republic were: careless handling of fire, violation of the rules for the operation of electrical equipment, negligence when burning garbage, grass, and other products, arson and violation of fire safety requirements when operating household electrical appliances.

One of the non-compliance with fire safety factors is the presence of weeds on agricultural lands. For cheap cleaning of mows, pastures or waste disposal, owners and users of agricultural land resort to burning last year's and unmown grass - agricultural fires. With the implementation of burns, the biological productivity of agricultural land decreases several times, and the species composition of grasses changes. Grass burns lead to a noticeable decrease in soil fertility. Agricultural fires can also lead to forest fires.

During the meeting, the heads of Laishevsky, Apastovsky, Spassky, Zelenodolsky, Arsky, Menzelinsky and Sarmanovsky agricultural administrations made speeches. They talked about the measures taken to avoid new emergencies.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan reminds that the issue of agricultural fires and compliance with fire safety is under special control. Today, at the federal level, it is planned to terminate state support to owners of agricultural land plots who violate fire safety requirements.

In this regard, agricultural producers need to ensure:

- preventing the cleaning of fields by burning out crop residues and vegetation,

- conducting briefings with industry workers, explanatory work on fire safety measures and actions in case of fire,

- creation of mineralized bands,

- the presence of tilled equipment that can quickly create stripes that prevent the spread of fire, and water transport equipment, as well as tanks filled with water in case of extinguishing the fire,

- bringing timely technical inspection of equipment in order to prevent leakage of fuels and lubricants.
