Poultry breeding in Russia is one of the most fast developing branch of farm animal production. Over 60% of poultry is produced by modern agricultural enterprises. Currently poultry production is 26.7 kg per capita. On the domestic poultry market self-sufficiency has already been achieved, the import share was only 10% last year.
The share of exotic poultry for slaughter is rising. In the total poultry production output it is 4%. Beside this, in 2014 the production of Muscovy ducks, guinea fowls, pheasants, quails and ostriches increased.
Poultry production for slaughter made up over 5 million tons. Capacity gain is 5%. Egg production was 41 billion. Russia satisfies the needs in full owing to its domestic production.
