For the first time in the history of Russia the record crop of rape has been got. Rape is one of the most important crop for oil and fodder protein production to satisfy needs of cattle breeding. According to the recent data the rape yield has made up 1.45 million tons, which is by 4.4% more than it was last year (1.39 million tons in 2013). The average crop yield of rape in Russia is 13.9 dt/ha, which is also higher than it was last year (12.4 dt/ha in 2013).
The leading region in rape production is traditionally the Central Federal District where 480,300 tons have been milled (which is over 33% of the country gross yield and by 16.8% more than it was last year).
In the Siberian Federal District 228,500 tons have been milled, in the North Caucasian Federal District 207,300 tons have been milled which is by 1.6% more than gross yield 2013 (204,100 tons).
In the Volga Federal District 203,100 tons have been milled which is by over 30% more than it was in 2013 (155,200 tons). In the Southern Federal District 133,800 tons have been milled, in the Ural Federal Districts 102,100 tons have been milled, in the North-Western Federal District 99,300 tons have been milled, in the Crimea Federal District 15,000 tons have been milled.
In 2014 the record in the rape yield has been beaten in the following regions: the Stavropol Territory – 192,100 tons, the Tula Region – 166,300 tons, the Krasnodar Territory – 89,600 tons, the Kursk Region – 64,500 tons, the Ryazan Region – 60,000 tons, the Kemerovo Region – 53,400 tons, the Tambov Region – 30,600 tons, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania – 6,500 tons, the Perm Territory – 3,700 tons, the Saratov Region – 3,200 tons.
The highest rape yield is in the Kaliningrad Region – 29.9 dt/ha, which is twice more than the average rape yield in Russia (13.9 dt/ha). Among the leading regions there are also the Leningrad Region – 24 dt/ha, the Krasnodar Territory – 21.5 dt/ha, the Orel Region – 20.1 dt/ha, the Ivanovo Region – 20.1 dt/ha and the Kursk Region – 19.2 dt/ha.
