Halal Production Fair opened in agro industrial park “Kazan” today

Today in the ago industrial park “Kazan” the first republican fair of halal production was opened.

In the opening ceremony the following officials participated: Deputy Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Akhmetov, representatives of “Halal” Standard Committee of Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan, “Halal” Industry National Association, personnel of the agro industrial park “Kazan”.

Before the fair was opened they inspected the stalls, had a look at the range of products, spoke with buyers and listened to their wants and needs.

At the fair there was the following halal production of Tatarstan agricultural producers and farm households: meet and diary production, confectionary and groceries, fish, honey, etc. In total about 40 enterprises offered a wide range of halal products including products from other regions: Mari El, Penza, Samara and Ulyanovsk regions.

During the meeting with reporters Marat Akhmetov noted that there are almost 2 million people in the republic. There can be even much more people who want to eat halal products. That is why agricultural producers of the republic of Tatarstan have the opportunity to distribute their production to the agro-industrial park “Kazan. They also have a chance to increase many times the production volume.

“I liked the fair and how it was organized. It turned out that in Tatarstan there are a lot of agricultural producers who are interested in halal products and who work in this sector of the economy”, evaluated a new trend in food industry Marat Akhmetov.

Head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan paid great attention to the quality of halal production which is extremely important for consumers.

“If we want to take care of the health of our nation, then we should develop this trend”, he continued.

According to the words of the minister, halal production is a perspective trend. He thinks it is possible to enter Asian markets with such kind of production.

“Considering the fact that Russia is currently working under WTO, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan considers that this trend of the food industry is of a top priority”, stated the head of the ministry.

“In this regard halal production will be always presented on the territory of the agro-industrial park “Kazan”, though possibly not in such a big amount”, said the minister.

“We will discuss the issue of the halal production share on the market with the directorate of the park “Kazan”, emphasized the minister.

According to the words of Marat Akhmetov, the fair for producers will be considered as the way to improve, the opportunity to grow, to introduce new trends taking into account consumers’ wants and needs.

Halal production fairs will be held regularly, likely, quarterly.

The head of the ministry considers also that it is necessary to solve numerous problems connected with production and distribution of halal products. Alongside with the attraction of specialists there is a need to develop special standards which should be agreed upon by complying monitoring authorities.

“This is a long and challenging way but we have to put up with it. Food market is competitive and halal production is in high demand”, summed up Marat Akhmetov.
