Rustam Minnikhanov, the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, visited the renovated Moscow Market in Kazan today.
The Moscow Market underwent reconstruction, which included updating all systems: utility lines were replaced, mezzanines were reinforced and expanded, and the stained-glass windows and dome roof were replaced. A modern ventilation and air conditioning system was installed in the building. Retail displays were also installed, warehouse space was modernized, and a new veterinary laboratory was built.
The market opened on May 20, 2025, in test mode. An amphitheater and a public greenhouse, a street fair, and the first renovated pavilions were added, along with a dedicated parking lot. Over the summer, the market hosted over a hundred events for children and adults, and hundreds of thousands of people visited the Moscow Market.
Today, Rustam Minnikhanov and his entourage toured the new pavilions and the market building.
Along with Rustam Minnikhanov, the renovated market area and retail pavilions were also assessed by Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov, Minister of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Utilities of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Aizatullin, Director of the Institute for Urban Development of the Republic of Tatarstan Nailya Zinnatullina, and others.
Rustam Minnikhanov also interacted with the vendors, assessing the quality of the felt used to cut shoe insoles, examining the selection of oak and birch bathhouse whisks imported from a neighboring region, and inspecting the counters selling butter, cheese, honey, and fruit. The tour then continued through the meat aisles, where halal products are also on offer.
The Rais of Tatarstan and the Mayor of Kazan also tasted freshly baked flatbread, toured the city's bistro gastronomy cluster (2nd floor), and visited the "Memory Lab" interactive zone.
