Tatarstan and the North Kazakhstan Region Strengthen Cooperation

A Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Akimat of the North Kazakhstan Region of the Republic of Kazakhstan was signed today in Kazan.

The document was signed by Tatarstan's Rais Rustam Minnikhanov and the Akim of the North Kazakhstan Region Gauez Nurmukhambetov. The signing ceremony took place in the Kazan Kremlin.

During the meeting, issues of further cooperation at the interregional level and the expansion of trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation were discussed. Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov also participated.

"We highly value the opportunity to expand ties with Kazakhstan within the framework of traditionally friendly Russian-Kazakh relations," said Rustam Minnikhanov. "The presidents of our countries actively support cooperation at the regional level." Rustam Minnikhanov also congratulated the members of the Kazakh delegation on the recent Republic of Kazakhstan Day, celebrated on October 25.

The Rais of Tatarstan reiterated that Kazakhstan is one of Tatarstan's leading international partners.

We have many opportunities to develop a mutually beneficial partnership with the North Kazakhstan Region, Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized. He noted that the Memorandum of Understanding signed today between Tatarstan and the Akimat of the North Kazakhstan Region will give new impetus to the development of cooperation between the regions. There are good prospects for cooperation in such areas as agriculture, food processing, energy and petrochemicals, mechanical engineering, information technology, and other important areas.

Rustam Minnikhanov invited his Kazakh colleagues to participate in the 17th International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum," which will be held in Kazan in May 2026.
