A delegation from the Republic of Tatarstan, led by Marat Zyabbarov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, paid a working visit to the MIHAS 2025 international exhibition in Malaysia. The delegation also included Deputy Minister Rustem Gainullov, Kamil Gazizov, Advisor to the General Director of the Halal International Center for Social and Food Security, and heads of agro-industrial enterprises.
Marat Zyabbarov met with Mohamed Bin Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia, in Putrajaya. The parties discussed prospects for increasing agricultural trade. Last year, imports from Malaysia to the Republic of Tatarstan amounted to $5.1 million, while exports totaled $77,750.
"We are ready to share our knowledge and technologies and explore opportunities for joint projects," noted Marat Zyabbarov.
A working meeting with importers of Malaysian agricultural products was held in Kuala Lumpur. According to Marat Zyabbarov, Tatarstan has already established itself as a reliable supplier of high-quality products.
"We are confident that our products will be in demand in the Malaysian market. We have worked through product certification and standardization issues, and our companies have received accreditation from the international certification body Jakim to ensure compliance with your market's Halal standards," he said.
The highlight of the visit was a visit to the MIHAS 2025 exhibition. The venue showcases food products, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and cosmetics that comply with Halal standards, as well as Muslim tourism and Islamic finance.
A meeting with Dr. Sirajutdin Suhaimi, Director of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia, was also held during the working visit. Cooperation between the parties is of strategic importance for the development of halal exports from Tatarstan. "The results achieved over the past two years create a solid foundation for further expanding supplies and expanding the presence of Tatarstan producers in the Malaysian market and throughout Southeast Asia," the minister said.
