Tatarstan has worked out an algorithm to combat African swine fever

Today, the Main Veterinary Department of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan held an Interregional command and staff exercise to eliminate the outbreak of African swine fever in the Bugulma municipal district. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Gelyus Bayazitov, Head of the Main Veterinary Department of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan Timur Galeev.

Representatives of the veterinary services of the Orenburg Region, the Republic of Bashkortostan, Udmurtia, Perm region, representatives of territorial federal bodies and specialized departments of the Republic of Tatarstan also took part in the exercise. The program consisted of two parts: theoretical and practical.

The purpose of the event was to check readiness and practice joint actions when carrying out a set of measures to localize and eliminate the outbreak of a particularly dangerous disease, as well as to practice interdepartmental interaction.

"The exercises held today are of particular importance, since Tatarstan occupies a leading position among Russian regions in the field of livestock farming and the agro-industrial complex as a whole. Our republic fully satisfies its own needs for livestock products. Every year, many new livestock complexes are built in the region," Gelyus Bayazitov emphasized.

In the Republic of Tatarstan, the elimination of foci of infectious diseases is carried out by the combined anti-epizootic detachment. The detachment was created by the Order of the Commission for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergencies dated January 21, 2020. According to this order, anti-epizootic detachments were formed in each municipal district of the republic.

All participants in the event received visual information on the mechanism of action of the republican detachment in the event of an emergency.
