The First All-Russian Forum of Breeders and Seed Growers "Russian Field - 2024" Opens in Tatarstan
Today, the opening of the First All-Russian Forum of Breeders and Seed Growers "Russian Field - 2024" took place on the territory of the Agrobiotechnopark of the Kazan State Agrarian University. It was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov, Deputy Minister Dmitry Yashin, General Director of JSC Shchyolkovo Agrokhim Salis Karakotov, Chairman of the Council of the National Seed Alliance Igor Lobach, Rector of the Kazan State Agrarian University Airat Valiev and Managing Partner of the breeding and seed company RUSEED Mark Gekht.
The forum brings together renowned scientists in Russian breeding science, genetics, biotechnology, founders and managers of seed producing companies, entrepreneurs, and representatives of federal and regional authorities to discuss current issues and strategic prospects for the development of breeding and seed production in Russia.
“This event plays a major role. Ensuring food security in the current conditions is of particular importance. In these conditions, the development of Russian breeding and the promotion of domestic breeding achievements comes to the fore,” said Dmitry Yashin.
The forum participants discussed issues in the field of genetics and biotechnology, breeding, seed production, and also examined demonstration crops. Particular attention was paid to issues of new breeding methods, the export of Russian seeds, education in the field of plant growing, seed business, and the promotion of domestic seeds.
