In the Chistopol district of the Republic of Tatarstan, construction of a new irrigation system on an area of 6,000 hectares has begun as part of the national project "International Cooperation and Export". Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Privolzhskmeliovodkhoz" Mars Khismatullin spoke about this work at a zonal seminar - meeting on the formation of agricultural crops in the Chistopol district.
He acquainted the participants of the seminar with the results of the implementation of melioration development programs and areas of state support and acquainted farmers with a new project for the construction of the Chistopol irrigation system on an area of 6 thousand hectares, which has passed the state examination. The project was developed by JSC "Tatmelioratsiya Trust Company" and consists of two stages of 3,100 and 2,900 hectares. At the moment, construction and installation work has begun on the implementation of this project.
Currently, Agrofirm Chistopolskaya LLC has experience in using the irrigation system. The irrigation system, built in 2021-2022 under the national project "International Cooperation and Export", irrigates an area of more than 2,000 hectares; this year, potatoes and forage crops are planted in the field. Under the national project, the farm managed to receive a subsidy to compensate 50 percent of the costs of building an irrigation system.
As the seminar participants were able to see, an excellent harvest is formed with irrigation. The farm has begun harvesting early potatoes. The average yield of the second bread of the "Reviera" variety under irrigation by mid-July is 300-350 centners per hectare. As even experienced farm managers and authoritative scientists have confirmed, such a result for Tatarstan by mid-summer is unique and unprecedentedly high.
