The delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan is on a working visit in the Surkhandarya region
Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov arrived on a working visit to the Surkhandarya region of the Republic of Uzbekistan. At the international airport of Termez he was met by the regional khokim Ulugbek Kosimov. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustem Gainullov is also taking part in the working trip.
Surkhandarya region is the southernmost region of Uzbekistan. It borders Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. The basis of the economy is agriculture.
The work program includes visits to production facilities, presentation of the industrial and economic potential of the region, as well as a meeting with the leadership of the region.
The delegation visited the Airitom free trade zone in Termez. The facility, with an area of 260 thousand square meters, includes a shopping complex for 3 thousand stores, production and warehouse premises, and a logistics center.
There they talked about the concept of a free trade zone. In particular, the advantage of the project is the acceptance of payments in foreign currency, additional tax benefits, exemption of entrepreneurs from customs duties, and a 10-day visa-free regime.
