Agroholding "August-Agro" became the leader in terms of grain harvest in Tatarstan

6 December 2023, Wednesday

Based on the results of the grain harvesting campaign in the Republic of Tatarstan this season, Management Company “August-Agro” took first place in the ranking among agricultural producers: in total, over 318 thousand tons were threshed, of which 307 thousand tons were winter and spring wheat. The average yield was 29.4 c/ha. This is a significant contribution to the total harvest volume at the regional level. Despite the difficult season of drought, the republic's farmers managed to harvest more than 3.7 million tons of grain.

Based on the results of 2022, which was favorable for farmers in terms of weather conditions, Management Company “August-Agro” for the first time entered the top three leaders in Tatarstan in terms of gross grain volume. In the drier year of 2023, the agricultural holding gained an advantage, among other things, thanks to the use of resource-saving technology of no-till farming on its farms, which allows obtaining stable yields and maintaining the profitability of the agricultural business even under the influence of climatic stress factors.

Zero tillage and the use of crop residues to cover it leads to the fact that fields suffer less from water and wind erosion and do not lose fertility, as a result of which the damage from moisture deficiency for cultivated crops is reduced. In the conditions of 2023, when the amount of precipitation on the company’s fields in the eastern and western zones of the Republic of Tatarstan during the growing season was 5–10 times lower than the average annual norm, the No-Till technology once again demonstrated its advantages.

The total harvest volume in the farms of the Management Company "August-Agro" for grains and oilseeds amounted to 449 thousand tons. In addition to wheat, in 2023 the company's agricultural firms grew spring rapeseed, sunflower, peas, oilseed flax and buckwheat. The current harvesting campaign started on July 14 and ended on November 6.

It is too early to voice specific expectations for next year’s harvest, but experts, examining winter wheat crops at the end of October, stated that 80% of the plants go into winter in excellent and good condition.

It is worth noting that no-till farming does not involve leaving fields fallow, thereby ensuring maximum returns from each hectare. Soil fertility using this technology only increases over time, and thanks to No-Till you can count on sustainable yields every year.
