AGROSILA began implementing a pilot project on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in agriculture last year. The holding invested 15 million rubles in the project. These funds, in particular, were used to purchase a UAV and related equipment and a vehicle with a trailer.
Currently AGROSILA uses 4 UAVs. One of them is aircraft type, it is equipped with a multispectral camera and is used for aerial photography and the creation of thematic maps of crop conditions. The XAG XP2020 unmanned complex is used to apply plant protection products, and two more agrodrones (DJI Phantom 4PRO and DJI Mavic) are used for a general assessment of the condition of the field area.
AGROSILA has a special service whose tasks include testing and introducing modern digital technologies. As experts note, practical experience helped determine how the process of using UAVs can be improved in terms of preparing the working solution, providing stable communications, and marking the areas being treated.
The use of UAVs has made it possible to obtain a more accurate assessment of the condition of crops, clarify the boundaries of fields, and apply protective equipment without damaging the crops with machine wheels or sprayer booms on tall crops such as sunflower and corn. The agrodron has shown its effectiveness in spot cultivation, as it allows the application of plant protection products only in those areas where it is necessary at the moment.
At the moment, about 2 thousand hectares have been processed using UAVs. Next year, the holding will continue to implement the project, and the processing area will be increased to 10-15 thousand hectares. In addition, it is planned to equip the UAV with the necessary equipment and components to reduce the time spent on operations, expand the list of crops processed and operations performed, conduct experiments to determine the optimal processing height and application rate for each preparation and crop, as well as test preparations for application in ultra-small volumes .
