The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan hosted a meeting to prevent the penetration and spread of especially dangerous animal diseases

Today in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov, a meeting of the Republican Headquarters was held to prevent the penetration and spread of especially dangerous animal diseases.

It was attended by Almaz Khisamutdinov, Head of the Main Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan, Idris Gatin, Head of the Department of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance in the Republic of Tatarstan, representatives of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Biological Resources, the Volga-Kama Department of Rosprirodnadzor, the Department of the Federal Enforcement Service punishments, heads of rural settlements, heads of agricultural departments, heads of state lighting associations, heads of pig and poultry farms, heads of enterprises for keeping cattle, as well as entrepreneurs engaged in the sale of livestock.

“The epidemiological situation in the country has worsened. Of particular concern is the registration of ASF foci in the vicinity of the borders of Tatarstan. There is a threat of introduction of avian influenza and foot-and-mouth disease into the republic,” Marat Zyabbarov stressed.

The keynote speaker was Almaz Khisamutdinov. He said that at present the republic is safe in terms of these diseases. But there is a threat of the introduction of pathogens from disadvantaged border regions. “The spread of the African swine fever virus in the territory of the Russian Federation continues. Since the beginning of the year, a total of 50 outbreaks have been registered, including 27 among domestic pigs and 23 among wild boars.

In June, outbreaks of ASF were recorded in the Ulyanovsk region. The infection has been identified in domestic pigs. In the Chuvash Republic, an outbreak among wild boars was found in the Shemurshinsky district. The Drozhzhanovsky and Buinsky districts, as well as Avangard LLC, were under the threat of infection.

In the Udmurt Republic, the virus was detected in a wild boar. The outbreak was located close to the borders of the Kukmorsky, Mamadyshsky and Yelabuga regions. In the Republic of Mari El, 3 outbreaks were registered. First, the foci were identified in wild boars, and then the infection moved to the private sector,” he noted.

The Kirov region was also declared unfavorable. There, 1 outbreak was found among wild boars and 1 outbreak among domestic pigs in household plots.

The head of the Main Department of Veterinary Medicine noted that it is necessary to work out the issues of ASF prevention at all levels as much as possible.

“In order to prevent the introduction of infection, owners of pigs need to exclude contact of pigs with other animals, including birds, conduct heat treatment of feed, and install disinfectant mats for treating shoes at the entrance to the premises for keeping pigs,” said Almaz Khisamutdinov.

Also, since the beginning of June of this year, numerous foci of avian influenza have been registered in the regions bordering the republic. The disease was detected in Mari El, the Kirov region and Udmurtia. The Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Perm Territory were also declared unfavorable for influenza. In total, since the beginning of the year, 3 large poultry enterprises have suffered from avian influenza in the Russian Federation.

In order to carry out measures for the prevention of bird flu, an objective accounting of the number of birds is carried out, household visits to private household plots, as well as raids on places of accumulation of gulls and raids to identify the case of wild and synanthropic birds.

Idris Gatin, in his report, dwelled on the violations that were identified in poultry and pig farms.

Marat Zyabbarov instructed to eliminate violations in order to prevent the introduction of infectious diseases from wild animals.
