Today in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, under the chairmanship of First Deputy Minister Lenar Garipov, a meeting of the Republican Headquarters was held to prevent the penetration and spread of especially dangerous diseases of animals and birds.
It was attended by Almaz Khisamutdinov, Head of the Main Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ilnur Galeev, Head of the Department of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision in the Republic of Tatarstan, representatives of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Biological Resources, the Volga-Kama Department of Rosprirodnadzor, the Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service , as well as heads of pig-breeding enterprises and farms.
“The situation with bird flu has worsened in the country. In neighboring regions, a large number of outbreaks were registered in a short period. Today we, first of all, will discuss the issues of preventing bird flu in our region. The issues of prevention of other infections, including African swine fever and foot-and-mouth disease, will also be considered,” said Lenar Garipov.
“At present, our republic is prosperous. Since the beginning of the year, no outbreaks of particularly dangerous infections have been registered. Despite this, we still fear the introduction and spread of such economically significant infections as African swine fever, avian influenza and foot and mouth disease,” Almaz Khisamutdinov reported.
At the beginning of this month, numerous foci of birds were registered in the regions bordering the Republic of Tatarstan. For this period of time, one focus of influenza was detected among gulls in the Kaluga region.
“The registration of foci of highly pathogenic influenza among wild birds is of particular concern to us. In our republic, there are a sufficient number of large poultry enterprises, many Koestyan farms for keeping birds, so it is necessary to make every effort to prevent infection on the territory of the republic,” Almaz Khisamutdinov noted.
In order to prevent the penetration and spread of contagious, including especially dangerous, animal diseases, it is recommended to ensure free-range keeping, exclude contact of pigs with other animals, including birds, conduct heat treatment of feed, install disinfectant mats for processing shoes at the entrance to the premises for keeping pigs, exclude visiting forests. In case of illness or death of pigs, immediately inform the veterinary service of the district.
In total, since the beginning of the year, the laboratories of the republic have investigated:
5357 blood samples from poultry;
4535 sample of pathological material from poultry;
749 samples from wild and synanthropic birds;
1763 samples of poultry products.
The issue of regulating the number of wild boars is under special control. Since the beginning of this year, 1666 samples have been delivered to the laboratories of the republic for research on ASF.
