Rosselkhozbank explored trends in global agricultural technology

21 March 2023, Tuesday

The key topics of the past five years in the field of agricultural technologies are related to the digitalization and automation of agricultural processes, the use of artificial intelligence technologies, machine learning and big data processing. Among all areas, regenerative agriculture, aimed at replenishing natural resources, is especially popular. For example, in the field of biotechnology, there is a high interest in the hydroponic method of growing plants.

The most discussed topic was city farming - agricultural activities in the city in a controlled environment using new types of greenhouses. The popularity of city farms is caused by the desire of agricultural producers to reduce costs, increase productivity and reduce the time it takes for food to get from farmer to table, because food grown on a city farm reaches the city dweller faster.

Experts from the Center for the Development of Financial Technologies of the Russian Agricultural Bank predict a further increase in interest over the next 5 years in such areas as the use of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles to monitor, control and increase crop yields; improvement of the ecological situation in the country; precision farming technologies.

Significant interest in the direction of food tech has been focused on building communication channels between market participants: farmers, producers, processors, distributors and buyers. Thanks to the pandemic and the general “acceleration” of life, online food delivery services have become widespread. In parallel with this, consumers have formed a conscious attitude to nutrition, against which the demand for food designers has grown, allowing you to choose an individual and most balanced diet for each individual person.

The results obtained from the analysis of the word cloud are quite typical for the current level of technology development in agriculture. Agriculture over the past five years has made significant progress in the field of digitalization. Enterprises in the agro-industrial complex are increasingly striving to use controlled artificial environments in their work, as well as new digital solutions that allow optimizing resource consumption and reducing costs. A conscious approach to farming, the development of genetic technologies is a prospect for the future. Innovations in the field of biotechnology are now at the peak of popularity in Russia. There are many similar domestic startups with the most non-standard solutions, large agricultural holdings are actively conducting R&D developments to create the food of the future and form healthy habits among consumers.
