Prospects for cooperation between Tatarstan and Libya discussed at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food

The Ministry hosted a meeting with the delegation of the Embassy of the State of Libya in the Russian Federation, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Libya to the Russian Federation, Emhemed A.E. Almagravi. It was attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marcel Makhmutov, the head of investment projects of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the head of the project for the export of Halal products Rustem Gainullov, the head of the food market development department Artur Shamsiev.

Recall that the delegation of the State of Libya, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Libya to the Russian Federation Emhemed A.E. Almagravi is in Kazan (February 5-8, 2023). Business meetings are planned in the ministries and departments of Tatarstan, visits to a number of industrial enterprises, acquaintance with the activities of the IT Park named after. Bashir Rameev, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, etc.


Deputy Minister Marcel Makhmutov presented Tatarstan's agro-industrial complex to the guests and told about export opportunities. He said that in 2022, the volume of gross output, taking into account all categories of farms, for the first time exceeded 300 billion rubles. Among the Russian regions, the republic, according to preliminary results, occupies: 1st place in the production of milk (share in Russia - 6.1%), 2nd place - in the production of potatoes (4.9%), 6th place - in the production of livestock and poultry meat for slaughter (3.4%), 7th place - in the production of eggs (3.3%), 9th place - in the production of grain (3.4%), 10th place - in the production of sugar beets (4.0%).


“Tatarstan supplies more than 70 types of agricultural products for export. Since 2015, the volume of exports has grown 4 times and exceeded 417 million US dollars. The Halal direction is successfully developing, the volume of exports of which has increased by 2.6 times since 2020,” said Marcel Makhmutov.
The guests expressed their interest in establishing export relations between Tatarstan and Libya. To do this, a working group will be created, which will study in detail the needs of the Libyan market.
