Specialists of the regional departments of the Tatarstan branch of Rosselkhozcenter checked in the laboratories sowing qualities of a large volume - several hundred thousand tons - of seeds for spring sowing in 2022.
“As of April 14 of this year, out of 398,000 tons of seeds of spring legumes and cereals that were put for storage, 333,000 tons were tested for sowing qualities. This is 105% of the need for spring sowing in the republic. According to forecasts, the need is 317.3 thousand tons,” said Rafis Khabibullin, deputy head of the Rosselkhozcenter branch in the Republic of Tatarstan.
97% of the tested seeds meet the requirements of state standards. More than a third of these seeds, or 37%, are original and elite, 49% are reproductions, 7% are mass reproductions, and 4% are non-varietal seeds.
Currently, work continues on the import of seeds of marginal crops. Of the 198 thousand sowing units (4.6 thousand tons) of corn seeds needed for spring sowing, 168 thousand sowing units (3.9 thousand tons), or 85%, were delivered to the republic. 15% of the required volume of seeds is in the process of delivery from other regions of Russia.
