8 April 2022, Friday

Today, soybean farmers from all regions of Tatarstan met at a seminar on growing this crop on the basis of the TatNIISH. It is organized in partnership with the Soy Union of the Volga Federal District. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Dmitry Yashin, Chairman of the Soybean Union of the Volga Federal District Oleg Mikheenko, chief agronomists of soybean farms.

Soy is a promising export-oriented crop for regions with developed animal husbandry. In recent years, there has been a steady increase in acreage in the Russian Federation, in connection with which the issue of selection and seed production of this crop is currently acute.

The Deputy Minister spoke about the main trends in soybean production in the country.

“Soy is a promising crop for us, because it is an important component in the diet in dairy farming. Tatarstan aims to develop this direction. Increasing productivity in milk production is impossible without high-quality, balanced feed. Soy is also a good predecessor for agricultural crops,” Dmitry Yashin noted.

At the end of 2021, soybeans were cultivated in the Republic of Tatarstan

in 11 municipal districts on an area of 4.9 thousand hectares, the gross harvest of seeds amounted to 6.6 thousand tons (in weight after completion) with an average yield of 13.5 q/ha. According to the structure of sown areas for 2022, it is planned to increase the area of soybean cultivation.
