19 October 2021, Tuesday

Today, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan held a videoconference meeting dedicated to the prevention of bird flu. The event was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Lenar Garipov, Head of the Main Veterinary Department of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan Almaz Khisamutdinov, as well as heads of agricultural divisions of the republic, veterinary workers and animal technicians.

The topic of the meeting was determined by circumstances: at the beginning of the second half of last year, the situation with highly pathogenic bird flu sharply worsened in the country.

"In total, 82 bird flu-affected localities were registered in Russia in 2020, 13 regions of the country were affected. To date, due to the identification of a highly pathogenic epidemiological situation in neighboring regions, the situation in the Republic of Tatarstan remains difficult. For our part, we carry out the whole range of preventive measures. Monitoring studies of poultry around poultry farms, monitoring at agricultural enterprises, monitoring of imported poultry products are carried out. But the heads of poultry farms also need to adhere to the veterinary and sanitary rules of poultry keeping as much as possible, and citizens who own personal farmsteads need to ensure that poultry is kept safe," Marat Zyabbarov said.

"The virus circulates in the wild fauna, and recently this has caused a wide spread of infection, as there is a migration of birds. Of particular concern is the fact that this year the disease was registered in poultry farms, which are closed-type enterprises. The last such case was registered at the Borovskaya poultry farm in the Tyumen region. 4.5 million laying hens and eggs will be destroyed there," Almaz Khisamutdinov said.

"In case of a tense situation in this area, there is strong support from the state - this is insurance support and support from the Ministry of Agriculture. Moreover, insurance companies are meeting us halfway," Lenar Garipov added.

In turn, the Minister stressed that insurance is an urgent topic not only for poultry farming, but also for other areas of agriculture - animal husbandry, crop production. In addition, all federal support will be provided only for insured agricultural enterprises.
