Today, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan held a videoconference meeting on the current situation in the pig industry. The event was chaired by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Labor, heads of major enterprises and industry unions, as well as representatives of the agro-industrial complex of the regions. Tatarstan was represented at the event by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov.
It was noted at the meeting that the pig industry has a socially significant orientation. The products produced by pig-breeding enterprises are presented in retail chains in a wide range and are sold at affordable prices.
According to Dmitry Patrushev, the current situation in pork production is generally positive. According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, this year it will show positive dynamics and exceed 5.5 million tons in live weight.
"Our republic is one of the developed regions of the Russian Federation in industrial pig breeding. Self-sufficiency of pork in our country is 113%. This year, as in previous years, positive dynamics in this industry is kept – for 8 months the production of pigs (in live weight) increased by 3% to the level of last year and amounted to 66 thousand tons," Marat Zyabbarov said in turn.
To date, Kamsky Bacon LLC, Phoenix LLC of Tukayevsky, Avangard LLC of Buinsky, TATMEAT Agro LLC of Sabinsky municipal districts of the Republic of Tatarstan have their own slaughterhouses and processing.
Following the meeting, Dmitry Patrushev instructed to prepare an action plan aimed at stabilizing the situation in the pig industry.
