More than 10 thousand tourists visited last year the ostrich farm of the peasant farm "Kotdusov" of the Vysokogorsky district.

The "Ostrich Farm" sign clearly shows the direction. A group of schoolchildren clung to aviaries and cages with exotic animals and birds, as well as the banks of the reservoir with a catamaran. These are children from two schools: from Kulle-Kimin comprehensive school of Atninsky and Kurkachinskaya primary comprehensive school of Vysokogorsky districts. Kurkachin schoolchildren arrived on bicycles: they only have 4 kilometers of road.

"We come here every year. The farm is nearby, children like to watch the strange animals and birds. This is both interesting and informative, " says Alsu Kalimullina, head of the Kurkachinskaya primary school.

"I really liked the lama, she is very graceful," Ksenia Stepanova, a student of the 7th grade of the Kulle - Kimin secondary school, shares her impressions.

"And I'll have a baby goat.He is so affectionate, homely”, - says the eighth-grader of the same school Zarina Shakirova.

The main feature of the farm – of course, ostriches. There are several of them – African and Australian. The head of the farm personally conducts a tour and answers all questions. He even organizes a quiz along the way. This time, the students were guessing over the puzzle: why do African ostriches have white eggs, and Australian emus – dark green?

After the tour, a tea party with pancakes is organized.

Within an hour, two more groups of students arrived at the farm. This time the students from Kazan: from lyceums No. 177 and No. 78. Each group consists of about 30 people. Some of them have been here before. Last year, the farm was visited by more than 10 thousand visitors.

Gabdelakhmat started developing agro-tourism with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan in 2010. Before that, he had been occupied in crop production and animal husbandry for almost twenty years. A lot of work, perseverance and money had to be invested, and the efforts, according to the farmer, were not in vain. Now this object is known not only in the cities and districts of Tatarstan, but also in a number of regions of Russia.

- I remember a married couple with a child, a son who looked 9-10 years old. The boy said, pointing to the horse, " Does this cow give much milk?" Yes, at least for the sake of educating children – and then it was worth starting this farm, " the farmer remembers.

It is not easy to maintain a farm. It is necessary to feed not only a cow, calf, horse, goats, but also camels, ostriches, yak, pheasants, peacocks, donkey, stork, turtles and other animals. They all have their own physiological characteristics and requirements.

It is also necessary to strictly control the relations of the inhabitants of the farm with the tourists. One of the students recently treated a kangaroo with bread, which is absolutely impossible to do.

- Our farm is a family farm. The case involves not only myself and my wife, but also my daughters, sons-in-law and even my granddaughter. Everyone is interested, " says Gabdelakhmat Gabdulakhatovich.
