The situation with winter crops is taken under control of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan

29 January 2021, Friday

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan pays great attention to the preservation of the fertility of land and winter crops, as well as perennial grasses in winter.

According to the operational information of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan, on January 29, for the harvest of 2021, winter crops were sown on an area of 552 thousand hectares. 435 thousand hectares of these are the winter wheat and 111.5 thousand hectares of winter rye.

The second decade of January was colder than usual by 3-7 ° С. The minimum air temperatures dropped in the Zakamsk regions to -34-39 ° C, in the rest of the regions -29- 33 ° C.

The height of the snow cover in the fields of the republic is 40-65 cm, in most districts of the Trans-Kama region - 30-35 cm. And in most regions it exceeds the norm by 1.5-2.5 times (the norm is 15-35 cm).

Due to the high snow cover, the depth of soil freezing did not change and on January 20 it was 50-80 cm, in Arsk, Kaibitsy and half of the meteorological stations in Zakamye 85-95 cm (average 50-80 cm).

Specialists of the branch "Rosselkhoztsentr" in the Republic of Tatarstan selectively surveyed the sowing of winter crops in order to determine the general condition of the fields.

Last weekend there were precipitations in the form of snow, sleet and drizzle. Air temperatures rose to 0 ° C.

Warm weather contributes to the preservation of high soil temperature at the depth of the tillering node of winter crops (mainly within the range of -0.2 ... -4.5 ° C).

In this regard, an ice crust of 0.2-1.5 cm is observed in the fields of the republic. It is formed during sharp fluctuations in air temperature. Currently, it is harmless to plants.

According to the preliminary forecast of the Hydrometeorological Center, mildly frosty weather, in places with light snow, will remain in the republic until the end of the month.
