Free seeds in spring - rich harvest in autumn

16 September 2020, Wednesday

Ten million rubles was allocated at the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan by the President of the Republic to provide the rural population with seeds and seedlings of vegetable crops in spring. This was supposed to provide support for large families and elderly single citizens. Was it good?

We went to the village of Kaipy, Laishevsky district. We were here in May. The onion beds were emptied. Now onion lies in boxes in the hallway. White cabbage is gaining weight: a late variety, and it will continue growing. The brown color is woven into the beds with carrots, it is already clear that the harvest will be good, as well as the yield of table beets. It is evident: the family is hardworking, in the summer they cared well for the vegetables.

Until recently, ten people lived in the house. But here's the joy: daughter Lilya with many children in Kaipy, on Central Street, bought a plot with a house. Now the family is equipping its own farm.

“The vegetable garden is an important source of food for us,” says Rustam Abdurakhmanovich. - My wife and I have small pensions, the eldest daughter now needs to pay off the mortgage, and free seeds with seedlings were, of course, useful. Here's another four hundred square meters of land.

At the school site in Kaipy, a harvest of vegetables is also ripening: beets, carrots, cabbage. The bow is removed and stored in the warehouse.

“Last academic year there were 58 students in our school, and this year there are already 80,” informs the director of the Kaipy primary school, Aleksey Nuzhdin. - And although we have a small vegetable garden, the school canteen's harvest is enough for two or three months, and this is a significant addition to the students' lunch ration.

In the vicinity of Kaipy, cottage settlements grow very fast. And soon the existing school seems to become cramped. And the school site will need more support.

The Yegoryevsky rural settlement includes 7 settlements, including Kaipy, with a population of about 3000 people, 1560 of which are local residents.

- Our settlement received 40 kg of onion sets, 400 g of carrot and table beet seeds, as well as 120 pieces of white cabbage seedlings, - says the head of the Yegoryevsk joint venture Rifat Khamidullin. - We consulted and decided to allocate planting material to large families, elderly pensioners living alone, and local school.

The list of recipients includes the names of Abdullins, Anisimovs, Minsafins, Nabiullins, Semenovs, Gorchakovs, Shaikhutdinovs, Gilyazovs.

In total, under a special program, Tatarstan residents received 31 tonnes of onion sets, 1 ton of carrot seeds, 820 kg of table beet seeds and cabbage seedlings in the amount of more than 162 thousand pieces. The seeds suppliers were regional consumer societies and cooperatives of the Tatpotrebsoyuz system.
