Everyday life of farmers: In the Vysokogorsky district, bees have become good helpers for farmers growing buckwheat

23 July 2020, Thursday

Together with the chairman of the public organization of beekeepers of the Vysokogorsky district, Almaz Shakirov and the farmer Marat Bakhtiyarov, we are standing near the buckwheat field of the cooperative Khamdeev. Buckwheat blooms, pleases the eye. It attracts not only the gaze of passengers passing by buses and cars, but also numerous bees. Bees are buzzing over the field, collecting nectar, behaving actively, which means there is order in the field: they are welcomed here with goodness.

“For two years now we have not used pesticides in our fields,” Marat says. - When the law on organic products and the certification system were adopted, our farm seriously aimed at the production of environmentally friendly products. After all, such products will be sold at a higher price.

Buckwheat field at the farm Khamdeev B.A. is 134 hectares. Buckwheat is a profitable crop if there is a reliable storage facility. And the peasant farms have such facility, so farmers have an opportunity not to rush into the sale of grain, but to wait for a favorable market situation. Bees in the cultivation of this culture are good pollinating helpers. The farm also cultivates another melliferous crop, clover, as a siderat.

“We only have about 300 hives in the local village of Saya,” says Almaz Shakirov. - So the local beekeepers are grateful to the head of the farm Bulat Khamdeev and his right hand Marat Bakhtiyarov for wisdom and understanding. By the way, Marat is a hereditary beekeeper himself, he knows how important it is to protect bees.

Last year in a number of regions of Russia there was a massive poisoning of bees with pesticides. Such facts were also noted in Tatarstan. Therefore, on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, all regional agricultural administrations held meetings with the participation of heads and specialists of agriculture, heads of settlements, prosecutors, representatives of beekeeping organizations.

- In our region, two whatsapp-groups were created. "Beekeeper" included the chief agronomists of farms, heads of settlements, a group for resolving conflicts and the chairman of the society of beekeepers. In turn, the beekeepers themselves created the "Medovik" whatsapp group. Through these two channels, beekeepers are informed about the upcoming chemical treatments: place, time, hazard class of drugs, - said Ilfar Akhmetgaliev, deputy head of the regional agricultural administration in the Vysokogorskyi region.
