Pork purchase prices in Tatarstan decreased by 10-15%

On March 2, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dzhambulat Khatuov held a meeting on the development of the pig breeding sub-sector. The event was attended by Tatarstan Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Lenar Garipov.

Opening the meeting, Jambulat Khatuov emphasized that over the past five years, the production of pigs has increased by 32%. The main increase was achieved due to the industrial sector, its share in 2019 amounted to 86.5%.

Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, Marat Zyabbarov, reported that in January, 35 thousand tons of cattle and poultry meat were produced in Tatarstan, revenue from sales amounted to 3 billion rubles (102%). The increase could be higher. But the purchase prices for pork decreased compared to last year by an average of 13 rubles, that is, by 14%.

“In January 2020, the republic has already produced 8 thousand tons of pork meat (115%). In 2019, Phoenix LLC built and commissioned the first phase of a modern high-tech pig farm for 800 sows. The project is designed to produce 4 thousand tons of pork per year. At the same time, the company is still working on the design of the second stage of the construction of a 1600 sows complex. The average cost of meat today in Tatarstan is 79 rubles. The selling price is about 104 rubles per kg. Compared to last year, it’s 10-15% lower”, said Lenar Garipov.

During the meeting, it was noted that high growth rates made it possible to achieve self-sufficiency, and at the moment it is necessary to increase supplies abroad and enter new markets. As a result of the event, the regions were tasked with analyzing the adequacy of measures taken in the field of epizootic well-being, development of export potential, and breeding. The results of the analysis will be further taken into account by the department in formulating the state policy in pig breeding.
