December 7, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov got acquainted with the activities of Kazan State Academy of Veterinary Medicine named after N.E. Bauman. The Minister was accompanied by the rector of the Academy Rustam Ravilov.
During the visit, Marat Zyabbarov examined the classrooms, laboratories, sports hall, museum and clinical building of the Academy, and also held a round table with the leadership and proffessors of the university.
Rustam Ravilov spoke about the activities of the university: “Kazan Veterinary Institute was established on May 31, 1873 by decree of Emperor Alexander II. Today, the training of qualified personnel for the agricultural sector is carried out at 3 faculties. There are 327 employees at 19 departments, 88% of them have a degree, including doctors of science. 1268 students are studying here, from Tatarstan, neighboring republics and regions, as well as 220 foreign students from 29 countries of the near and far abroad. One of the Academy’s graduates is Vice President of the Republic of Burundi, Joseph Butore. A cooperation agreement has been signed with the University of Burundi. ”
The rector of the university also said that every year 8-10 students of the academy undergo practical training at agricultural enterprises in Germany, internships at the Copenhagen Veterinary School and the clinic of Istanbul University, etc. “Our task is to train qualified veterinarians, zoo engineers, veterinarians, and international agricultural technologists,” said Rustam Ravilov.
Recall that, according to the results of each academic semester, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan selects 25 candidates from the Agrarian University and the Veterinary Academy to receive a nominal scholarship from the ministry.
