On October 16, in the Mendeleevsky District, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, by the Bread Artel project, the regional Bread Festival dedicated to the International Bread Day was held. Its participants were schoolchildren and residents of the city and district. The museum of local lore has prepared interactive exhibitions “The bread of war” and “How bread begins”.

Festival guests learned the history of the creation of collective farms in the region, saw unique photos from the collections of the local history museum, learned the recipe for war-time bread, saw how whole grain flour was made, and tried to determine the types of cereal plants. The tasting of rye bread baked according to old recipes was particularly interesting.

The exhibition of bakery products was organized by the Mendeleev RaPO and the Yelabuga food factory. Representatives of the rural settlements of the region treated the guests with national pastries, and in the square in front of the Culture House there was a tasting of Udmurt cuisine dishes, which were prepared right in front of the audience in a real Russian oven.

A popular science film about the history, cultural and scientific phenomenon of bread was also presented to schoolchildren.
