15 Tatarstan consumers cooperatives are engaged in fish processing. The work is well organized in Agryz, Baltasi, Mamadysh, Saby, Tetyushi and Chistopol district consumers societies. In total 628 tons of fish have been produced by consumers cooperatives.

According to the words of the specialists of Tatpotrebsoyuz, fish processing has quite a good profitability. For example, cooperators from Mamadysh district consumers society buy 1 kg of fresh herring for 89 rubles, and sell it at 159 rubles per kilo after salting. They buy 1 kg of fresh mackerel for 160 rubles and sell it at 200 rubles per kilo.
