23 September 2017, Saturday

As of today, in Tatarstan grains have been harvested from 1,460,000 ha of fields. The total grain yield has reached 4,950,000 tons. Next week the harvesting campaign will be almost finished. The figures were announced by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Akhmetov at a videoconferencing session chaired by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the House of Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, today.

A lot of municipal districts broke their records in wheat, rye and barley yield this year. They are Zainsk, Tetyushi, Rybnaya Sloboda and Kaibitsy municipal districts. They have already finished harvesting of grain and free machinery has been transported to the fields of the districts falling behind.

“Harvesting of sugar beetroot is going quite fast this year. This year 74,000 ha of fields are sown with this crop, which is by 11,000 ha more than in 2016. A of today, 25,000 ha of fields have been cleared (34%). Every day over 1,500 ha of fields are cleared”, - reported Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan. The average crop yield is also good – it is 375 dt/ha, which is by 50 dt more than in 2016. All three sugar plants are working at full capacity. “Both producers and processors lose money – the wholesale price is 26 rubles per ton while last year it was 38 rubles. We hope that in the winter the price will rise”.

Over a half of fields with potato have been cleared. This year potato yield is being distributed, including sales at traditional agricultural fairs.

Currently the primary emphasis is placed upon autumn plowing. 890,00o ha of fields have been tilled, which is 44% of the plan. Marat Alhmetov recommended to unlock technical potential. There will be favourable weather conditions within the next few autumn days and farmers should take a chance to finish the bulk of harvesting work.
