Over 40,000 tons of grain have been preserved in Tatarstan

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Akhmetov reported on the start of harvesting campaign 2017 in the republic at a session in the house of Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, today.

The videoconferencing session with all municipal districts of the republic was held by Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexey Pesoshin.

Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan informed that it was impossible to start harvesting in full due to series of rains and semimaturation of bread crops. Within the framework of the harvesting campaign, 43,100 tons of grain have been milled as of today. The leading districts are: Zainsk (over 10,000 tons of grain), Nurlat (6,000 tons) and Aksubaevo (3,200 tons of grain).

“Last year by this date we had received about 2.5 million tons of grain yield, while this year we have not received even the 1st 100,000 tons yet”, - said Marat Akhmetov.

He emphasized that simultaneously with harvesting of grains it was necessary to break ground and get ready for sowing of winter crops, as well as to continue forage making. “In total, all the districts were successful to show good results on the 1st stage of forage making. As of today, about 580,000 tons of hay and 3.3 million tons of haylage have been preserved. That is about 1.3 million tons of forage or 21.5 dt of forage per animal, which is by 3% more than it was last year, - said the minister. – Forage reserves are increasing owing to harvesting of annual grasses and the 2nd cut of perennial grasses”.

According to Marat Akhmetov’s opinion, this year a lot of households could preserve twice more forage than usual. However, farmers should pay special attention to the technology of forage laying and storing.

The minister reminded that it was necessary to start sowing of winter crops in a week. However, a number of districts still do not have seed grains, they are: Leninogorsk, Cheremshan, Agryz, and Rybnaya Sloboda municipal districts.

“Having 4.3 million tons of grain last year and under favourable weather conditions you managed to stay without any seed grains this year. Sowing starts on August 10. Households with such problems will not have any productivity”, - applied Marat Akhmetov to regional administrations.
