Activities to increase cattle population of meat productivity in the Republic of Tatarstan

The main share of the Russian consumer beef market makes meat of dairy cattle, note specialists of “Chief State Agricultural Directorate for Pedigree Livestock Breeding of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan”. People from European and North American countries, in their turn, consume meat of specialized beef strain.

Recently, the Republic of Tatarstan has been undertaking measures to increase meat cattle population. For example, agricultural producers of the republic receive a partial refund of expenses on purchasing of stud bulls of such pedigrees.

As of today, there are 4 breed livestock farms with meat cattle in Tatarstan. They are OOO “Agrofirm “Marten” in Saby municipal district, OOO “Breed livestock farm Pioneer” in Arsk municipal district, OOO “Logos” in Rybnaya Sloboda municipal district and OOO “Agricultural enterprise “Kamsko-Ustyinskoe” in Kamskoe Ustye municipal district. In total, 2,500 breed cattle are kept there, including 1,100 animals of stud stock. In 2017 the enterprises are going to sell 100-120 stud bulls. These animals are purchased for pedigree breeding in peasant farm enterprises and private households, as well as for commercial cross breeding of milk cows in agricultural enterprises engaged in milk production.

93 enterprises are engaged in commercial cross breeding in Tatarstan. In 2016 they received over 9,000 calves.
