Yesterday, on February 16, III republican seminar “Organic agriculture in the Republic of Tatarstan” took place within the framework of the Volga Region Agro-Industrial Forum. It was devoted to the issues of development of organic agriculture on the territory of Tatarstan.
The following officials gave their reports: Executive Director at “National Organic Alliance” Oleg Mironenko, Chairman at the Public Council for Organic Production at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Valeriy Gogin, Research Staff Member at the Institute for Ecological Problems and Subsurface Resources Management of the Academy of Science of the Republic of Tatarstan Tatyana Koltsova, Professor at Kazan State Agrarian University Radik Safin, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Science of the Republic of Tatarstan Robert Ilyazov, directors of egricultural organizations Saidash Israfailov, Yuriy Ryzhov and Aidar Garaev.
During the discussion it was noted that the main deterrent for organic agricultural production was the absence of profound regulatory framework, the absence of state programs and support for organic agricultural producers, underdevelopment of organic products market.
At the same time the Republic of Tatarstan has territories which are ecologically favourable for organic production. A lot of agricultural producers of the Republic of Tatarstan use biologization of agricultural production and are ready to shift to the technology of agricultural production which meets the requirements and standards of organic agro-production. There are also agricultural manufacturers who introduced the principles of organic production successfully into their technology of agro-production and are almost ready to undergo certification of organic production.
