In OAO “Ak Bars Pestretsy” branch, situated in the village of Belkino of Pestretsy municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan, calves are brood through the so-called “cold approach”.
“This approach contributes to the creation of favourable conditions for quick adaptation of young animals to the climate, as well as for natural resistance to diseases which is much stronger in comparison with the animals kept in warm venues. Each calf is kept in a separate house, so the animals do not contact with each other and do not communicate diseases to each other”, - said Anna Baturina, a zootechnician.
Currently, there are 130 separate houses for young calves. Calves wear special clothes and specialists are looking after their health all the time.
