Today Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Akhmetov met the delegation from Khurasan-Rezavi of the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by Vice-Governor on Khurasan-Rezavi Economic Policy Mokhammad Mekhdi Moravedzh Alsharie. The meeting took place in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Deputy Ministers Nazip Khazipov, Talgat Tagirzyanov, Marat Zyabbarov, Director General at “RATSIN” Askhat Sharapov, Board Chairman at “Tatpotrebsoyuz” Makhmut Fattakhov, Director General at the Directorate for Economic Issues Coordination Ali Rasuliyan from Khurasan-Rezavi, Director at the Organization of Industry and Resources Razie Alirezai from Khurasan-Rezavi, etc. also took part in the meeting.
Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Akhmetov greeted the guests and spoke about the history of relationships between Tatarstan and the Islamic Republic of Iran. “The first contact between Iran and the ministry was in 2014, that was when we had a meeting with the Counselor”, - noted the minister.
Speaking about Tatarstan AIC, Marat Akhmetov said that Tatarstan was a self-sufficient region. “This year we have harvested 4.3 million tons of grain and 2.3 million tons of sugar beetroot. Tatarstan produces about 1.8 million tons of milk and 500,000 tons of meat every year. However, the agricultural potential is much higher”, - reported the minister.
“There are over 6 million people living in the province of Khurasan-Rezavi, - said Mokhammad Mekhdi Moravedzh Alsharie. – We produce over 7 million tons of different agricultural products every year. The province takes the first place in agricultural production and export in Iran”.
Growing of pistachios and saffron is especially developed in the province.
Mokhammad Mekhdi Moravedzh Alsharie noted that the province was interested in cooperation with Tatarstan in terms of export and import as well as scientific experience exchange.
