As of today, there are over 376,000 garden plots with a total area of 28,000 ha in Tatarstan, where over 17,000 ha are registered under the ownership. Gardening is especially developed in the suburbs of Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny and over 1 million of citizens not only provide themselves with vegetables and fruit but also sell them. It was found out that the majority of garden plots need reconstruction.
By order of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov it is planned to allocate 550 million rubles from republican budget 2017 for the development of engineering infrastructure of horticultural, garden and dacha non-commercial associations. 300 million rubles are allocated for reconstruction of access roads to horticultural non-commercial associations, 100 million rubles – for construction and reconstruction of the venues of electrical grid infrastructure, 100 million rubles – for water supply systems, 50 million rubles – for collection and disposal of household waste.
According to the words of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, in order to submit a grant application, horticultural societies should supply inventory results, data concerning a need for access roads, water, waste containers, etc. to bodies of local self government in municipal districts.
