Development prospects of organic agriculture were discussed at the conference in Moscow

The conference named “Organic agriculture: experience, problems, prospects” was held within the framework of Russian agricultural exhibition “Golden Autumn” at the end of the previous week.

Chairman of Pubic council on organic production in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Valeriy Gogin gave a speech at the conference.

Organic agricultural production is developing fast nowadays in over 170 countries. Within last 5 years the global market of organic products has quintupled and reached almost 100 billion dollars in 2015, which is about 10% of the total agricultural production output.

Russsia, as well as Tatarstan, makes its first steps in organic agriculture production.

Valeriy Gogin shared the experience on organic agricultural production in the republic and noted the necessity for farmers engaged in organic production to have the state support in order to provide development of the sphere, and the need for development of the national certification system for organic production in order to provide compliance of the produced products to the stated quality.

Representatives of the Committee of the Russian Federation State Duma on agrarian issues, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Russian Federal service on surveillance for consumer rights protection and human wellbeing, Russian Standard and others state organizations, Russian agrarian business and branch alliances took part in the conference.

Foreign experience of organic agricultural production was exemplified by Austria, Kyrgyzstan and Belorussia.

Legal regulations for production and turnover of organic production, certification of organic production and other issues were also discussed at the conference.
